Days At The Museums #DAY2

*…continued from previous post*

Honestly, I'm surprised I've gotten this far typing the 'Days At The Museums' post again right now. Lol.

#DAY2

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF INDONESIA

The second day of my free time was so sunny. Fortunately, the air conditioning in the museum was working well so that I had no prob. The building was big enough, and it has a big yard outside. I amazed, the National Museum was different with other museums I've ever visited. Well organized, clean area, good display with beautiful garden. It was excellent for a museum with the entrance fee only Rp 5000. Definitely worth to visit.
This museum is also known as Elephant Museum, because of elephant sculpture made of bronze medal that given by King Chulalongkorn of Thailand in 1871, which is now on the front lawn of the building. National Museum has more than 140,000 collections consist of prehistoric, archeological, foreign ceramic, numismatic/heraldic, colonial, ethnographical and geographic.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES MUSEUM

National Archives Museum was originally the house of the former Governor-General of VOC; Reiner de Klerk, in the 18th century.
Thing that caught my attention when I came here was the building's architecture. This main red brick bulding has two floors with a high roof, carved door and vintage windows. It also has a large garden at the front and rear of the main house. Beautiful design of colonial building.

Days At The Museums #DAY1

You can call me old fashioned, but I'm the type of person that automatically decide to choose art galleries, libraries, and museums to visit, rather than malls, beauty salons, and night clubs. So last week when I have two free days, I spent most of the time visiting places I've listed since a long time ago.

#DAY1

TEXTILE MUSEUM OF JAKARTA

I'm interested in the history of Indonesia's textile, so I visited the museum that was build in the early 19th century under the auspice of the former first lady Madam Tien Soeharto. Textile Museum collections consist of traditional textile from various territories in Indonesia like Batik, Ikat, Tenun, Songket, and Celup. The museum has a workshop on the back of the site where Batik is being made on a daily basis and where tourists are able to make their own souvenirs. Textile Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with ticket prices of Rp 5000 for adults, Rp 3000 for college students and Rp 2000 for students.

NATIONAL GALLERY OF INDONESIA

The National Gallery of Indonesia is a museum and an art gallery in Jakarta. Luckily, there was a Visual Art Exhibition at C building when I visited the gallery. All the art works held together in one concept called Cultural Interpretation and Dialogue. This exhibition displayed art works that created by six Artist in Residence; Fachriza Jayadimansyah (Indonesia), Lala Bohang (Indonesia), Maria Vasquez Castel (France), Laura Mergoni (Italy), Tetsuro Kano (Japan) and Young Choi (South Korea).

NATIONAL LIBRARY OF INDONESIA

The library which is located in two separate buildings; at Jl. Salemba Raya No. 28A and Jl. Merdeka Selatan No. 11, both in Central Jakarta ––boasts a collection of 1,8 million books and documents, including 10.000 antique manuscripts with the oldest dating back to the 12th century.
Well, I chose the library at Jl. Merdeka Selatan to visit. Although the library is open for the public, but it doesn't lend the collections to take home. But that was okay, because it's easy for me to get buried under a bunch of books.
